To some extent you can just lessen the cost at the pump by driving less. The rise in electricity prices is more backbreaking than the rise in gasoline. In either case it would be a dramatic shift. If the current administration relaxes it's stance on domestic drilling and frees up new permits.prices go down.

We are currently around 300 bcf BEHIND last year in total storage and last year was about 500 bcf behind the 5 year average.īasically we are at a point where the supply/demand balance is on a razor's edge. IF we have a cold winter (nationally), we'll likely see those kinds of prices per/kWh, especially since we aren't seeing a ton of new wells coming online. So does that mean the price of electricity is going up? In the short term yes. It's an option that's $32 out of the money for a product that's trading for less than $10. In a normal market those would have traded for at most. I realize most people won't know what that means so I'll just dumb it down for you. Usually you look at a trade like that and just think that it's some trader taking a shot at a home run trade. In the last several months we've been seeing some ridiculous trades going on like Jan-Feb $50.00 calls. The last time we saw NG prices at these levels was 2008.
